About

I am a qualitative researcher. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in language and literacy education. A majority of my time is spent teaching doctoral qualitative research courses and coordinating the work of the Center for Qualitative Inquiry at Texas Woman’s University (TWU)(Denton, Texas USA). http://Qualitative.twu.edu

I appreciate visitors to my blog: http://QualitativeInquiry.com/
The goal of this blog is to write about teaching and mentoring qualitative research. I also share details about my work as Faculty Coordinator of the Center for Qualitative Inquiry and my passion for nurturing a growing multidisciplinary interest in qualitative research at Texas Woman's University.

I currently serve as the webmaster and newsletter editor for the American Education Research Qualitative Research SIG.http://www.aera.net/Default.aspx?menu_id=208&id=772

Background:
Stimulated by my interest in language, literacy, and culture, I have pursued the study of language and literacy practices in and out of school in Alaska, Texas, Ohio, the Russian Far East, and Australia.

Before coming to TWU, I was an Assistant Professor, and later an Associate Professor, of literacy education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. During the later part of my tenure at UAF, I worked for two years as a post doctoral research fellow, at the University of Western Sydney Nepean, on a large research project studying the development of home – school literacy partnerships. This project worked in collaboration with a research team at the University of California, Santa Barbara, lead by one of my doctoral mentors, Professor Judith Green.
